Sugarskull mysteries: Ice ice baby

Yesterday I got a text from that crook himself: Bobby Currantbaker. Well, actually, it was sent with Tom's phone.. I guess he'd hacked it. Didn't know that was even possible!

He sent me this:

So I went to the freezer. But I couldn't see anything.
I stuck my hand in it and when I felt around for a while (I'm making it sound like we have a huge freezer, but it's just one of those built in with the fridge, I just had to reach all the way back around some stuff) bingoooo.

I put it in the sink and turned on the hot tap. In only a few second I was holding the 3th sugarskull in my hand. Next one will be the last one. I have the feeling it will be the most difficult. But of course I have no idea.

Oh, also, I was a guest at Enschede FM yesterday, in a program called Eneergy, run by 2 young DJ's. I played Hands, and Lady by the River. If you want to listen to it: Click

7 things that don't really have anything in common

Gooood Liv Tyler is SUCH a beautiful woman.
Well, not much to say, got much to do. 2 tests coming up next week. And one concert, one we already did before, but because something went wrong with the video recording... we have to do it again.
So I'll be singing Mas Que Nada and If I Were A Boy for a second time on stage...

I'm rehearsing again with my new band on saturday! And of course I'll be watching the goddamn soccer match on saturday eve!! I'm not into soccer at ALL, except when it's EK or WK.. then I LOVE it.
I'm actually looking forward to it... big time.

And sunday I'll be playing 2 songs at a music play thingy day which is organized by my 'old' singing teacher! There'll be more old students of her playing, and current students! So I'm curious about it! Not really looking forward to playing.. but that more because of the resentfulness that comes from the nervousness I get when I have to play.

Mmm not so many reservations for the livingroom concerts, which sucks, 'cause it's really even more fun with more people. Only about 10 reservations for both cities now. It's hard to get enough people where you don't know that much people.

Ah well, looking forward to it anyway! Aahh and luckily Tineke is coming along! She tore her anklet this week and 2 days ago it seemed she wouldn't come along, or otherwise only the 2nd day. But she insisted on coming. I'll have to support her here and there but I'd do that with luuuv :) I'm just so happy my sister (who lives in Rotterdam, and the concert we're doing at her boyfriends house) will see us perform as Tree Like Fun. And we're gonna do 2 new songs!

Weeeeeellllll I think I'll listen to Gotye one more time and then take a shower. Or sumphin'.

Anyway, as you can see above, I FINALLY got my tattoo! And I'm soooooo happy with it! It's perfect; just like I imagined it would be. It wasn't really painful putting it on, just more the annoying kind of pain. I got it in Amsterdam at http://www.hollywoodmark.com/ .

At the moment, I'm watching Love Actually, with my favorite hottie actor Alan Rickman in it as a cheating bastard. But he's still hot. Awww and Hugh Grant is in it tooo.... and the guy that plays the main character in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (where Alan Rickman is the voice of the robot! <3) And I'm sitting on the couch with Effie lying next to me, fully stretched out. Man she's such a sweetie.

Well, almost holidays, caaaan't wait. But have lots and lots of school business to do.

Oh look at the time

Ooohh what a bad blogger I am!! So busy, I hardly have any time for doing nothing. Of course, I could spend all the time I spend on facebook on something more useful. Yes, Tineke (other half of Tree Like Fun) is right. I'm a facebook junkie. Well, that was a nice conclusion to end that topic.

Normally I almost never practice my own songs.. and I should.. but when there's no reason (show or exam) to practice.. I don't practice. But now, I have a show this thursday, so I've been practicing the last weeks.. and it reminded me of how nice it actually is to rehearse and play my own songs.. so weird it came to be a thing I dislike to do.. playing my own songs, or really more the practicing.. I'm playing in the Vestzak (niet vetzak) theater in Enschede, this Thursday 20:00. I'm really looking forward, but since the last time I performed as 0neTrickPony is literally almost a year ago (I know this because the last show was the weekend after Marco and I broke up, and we broke up on 25 nov (which I can remember because we had a bandlab concert that evening) it's a year ago this weekend.) So aaahh scary!

Ooooh and we have a cat now in Enschede :D she's so sweet, her name is Effie (like Effy from Skins).

Oh well, I have to go! I'll be coaching a 'band' during our band coaching education lesson. Pffffff don't want to.

And Tineke and I recorded Tree Like Fun songs this weekend!! We recorded 8 hours of video stuff, so there should be a nice videoblog in a while again. And the recorded songs of course! Can't waaaaaaiiiiitttt!!

Age Kay Cee

Even though I eventually decided to cancel the living room concert in Leeuwarden, it was ASAAAMM. I had such a great weekend! Performing with someone is so nice for a change! And to finally play our songs to people.. luved it.

There were lots of enthusiastic people coming up to me saying they liked the evening and the music. So, even though I'd enjoyed myself a lot already, hearing that made it even better.

We had a nice party afterwards too (in Enschede and in Groningen also).

So it was a GREAT weekend! And I can't wait for the next concerts! I think I'll plan them the weekend before the Christmas holidays. But I'm thinking about doing 2 instead of 3. Since I was really tired Sunday already.

It's not a bunny

and it's not a bonus, but hey, it's a weird photo of myself as an "omg I haven't posted ANYthing in 2 weeks I'm ashamed of myself, here have this photo!"

It's with my sister Jennifer, on holiday in England. God I had nice times there.

I've been so busy! Hence the lack of.. anything. Tineke and I held a songwriting marathon day, which resulted in having 5 songs finished at the end of the day! (We had 1 finished already, and with another song we already had a verse and the chorus, but still, I was pretty proud of us)
The 2 people reading probably saw this already, but hey, I am a shameless bastard!

It's nice working with someone with stuff like this for a change. And much more fun! It's also hard at times of course.. she has a strong opinion, and when I've got something in my mind it's hard to make me change that. But in the end it works, since we have the 5 friggin songs.

I also FINALLY made a livingroom concerts site yesterday! It's in Dutch, since I'm only doing it in Holland. And here it is. I thought it was better if all information could be found at 1 point, instead of at 3 facebook events.. So exciting! Performing with Tree Like Fun for the first time :) scary even, I guess.

I'll go 0neTrickPony on the sunday, in Leeuwarden, but man.. making a setlist is so hard at once! I want to play Lady by the river, The Sharks, (a changed, for me for the better for listeners probably not) Oh Wikipedia, Heart breaking Boys, Fish & Birds, My Penis.. maybe even I was your bird. But I only got 5 to 6 songs. Normally I had to drag the shitty songs along to make a full set. Okay, but yeah, then I had to play 45 minutes.

Well why not skip to some more interesting stuff you think? YES! why not!

I ALWAYS MISS MY HUNDREDTH POSTS AAARRG.

Not that I would know anything exciting to do or say. Except for maybe some nostalgic recap, but, welllll.. boring.

So, but news is! News. iiiisss... oh yes. I am going to organize living room concerts myself. I am already organizing, but it's a bit tricky and all.
But I want to do the first 3 in october! A weekend with 3 concerts, which will mean traveling a lot and dragging shit along, but I'll be doing it with fellow friends and singer/songwriters.

More information will follow as soon as I know more. When I've set the dates par example.

But, for the 2 readers of my blog. Hoooi Rosan! Hoooi Sjors! And hi to maybe someone coming here accidentally!
Would you pay 5 euros for a delightful evening with your friends and some strangers, 3 shows of 3 awesome upcoming singer/songwriters, and some free drinks?
Do you think people would?

Each songwriter gets 1 euro, the other 2 is for us to buy the drinks with. Reasonable right? But okay, what do you think? :)

Pfff I have to record a song for a lesson tomorrow.. and I wanted to do it with my new keyboard but the midi input it has is a different one that I normally have so now I'm unable to to that and I'm 3,5 hours away from Enschede (I'm in Friesland) and aargrghh.
So now I have to record it tonight when I'm home again at 22:00, or tomorrow morning.. Pfff okay it's do-able I guess. But aaarrgghhhhhggg.

Here I was your Bird at Jonge Harten Festival (theatre).. oohh this was so harsh. Marco and I had just broken up. And just before the show I was crying and feeling fucked. And then I had to sing this song...

My sister had come to me on the day before, all the way from Groningen to Enschede, and she came back to me to Groningen (where the festival was). Ohh she's such a sweety.

You can't see much but the sound quality is really nice I think!

I really thought nobody liked my show there. But now I'm looking at it and listening, and I am very critical listening to myself, but I actually think it went kind of well! Especially since I had had some stress beforehand, since my piano wasn't working haha.. but the people there were really nice and in the end, as you can hear and see, it worked. Yay.

Ooohhhhh (gesus, lots of 'oooohh's' today eh?) it's SUCH NICE WEATER!!! I get all happy when it's like this :D .. and I feel like saying 'Aaaaahh ohhh the weather is SO NICE! IT'S JUST SOOO NICE!" all day long.

School, after school to my sister in Rotterdam, from Rotterdam to Leiden for Popronde (Estaminet Schommelen 23:00-23:45 :)) then back to Rotterdam for some sleeping. From Rotterdam to Eindhoven for Popronde (TAC 21:00-21:30) then back to Rotterdam, if my sister says that's okay, still have to ask, then from Rotterdam to Amsterdam for some time with zhe besties and then back to Enschede.

Busy busy, but should be allllllll fun an' games.

Utrecht was noisy, but nice anyway. I even got harassed by 6 guys from Brabant -don't say you're not jealous.
Now another busy week, Wednesday I'll be supporting Wildbirds & Peacedrums in De Effenaar in Eindhoven. Too bad Enschede-Eindhoven is 2:46 by train, and I have no other way to travel.. so this means I can hardly watch their show, and be home at half past 1 whatsoever. Bummer.
Even more because on Thursday, I'll be playing in Groningen with Popronde (20:30 jazzcafe de Spieghel), I'm really looking forward to that. It's in my boyfriend's and my sister's hometown. So they can come watch, and I get to see them and I'll be staying the rest of the weekend. :)
But I was hoping to finally see some more of the Popronde concerts, and if I'm so tired I'm falling from my stokje that won't really be an option. Except for when I fill myself with coffee or red bull maybe ;)
Nah I'm looking forward to it! To both :)

But now first, school. Have to get dressed and eat something, yeerss.

Yesterday

Yesterday I went to Wageningen, for Popronde. I've been having a shitty week and wasn't looking forward to it. But it changed when I met the people who worked where I played. It was a biological restaurant, and the people were just so nice. So welcoming and honest. Made my day :) They also had really nice food! So if you're ever in Wageningen, go to Vreemde Streken. I know I will.

Today I'll be going to Utrecht, also for Popronde. After that, I'll be taking the trein to Groningen, to my boyfriend, and on Saturday we'll train to Friesland, where his and mine parents live. Will be the first time in almost 2 months I see my old home. But now, I am going to have my breakfast.

Popronde Den Bosch was Awesome. Almere also, a bit less people, that's always hard, to play when there are about 10 people. Even harder when the room is big enough for more than 50.
But I had a nice weekend, with my best friends en my boyfriend. And I saw my grannie and uncle again. And now I'm home, tired, and ready (oh so ready) for my holiday.

But it'll have to wait, I'll have to wait. First school, still. And Popronde Wageningen and Utrecht (thursday and friday) yay!

What a lovely title
hahahaaaahaha. Okay, it's morning, early, I haven't drank a first sip of my coffee yet.

I dreamt I had joined Popstars (it's something like Idols and ...'s got talent), but I hadn't prepared beacause I didn't even know I was joining. So I was stressing like a mad hatter and walking around trying to figure out what to sing.. you had to sing 2 songs. At first I came up with, I don't know how to love him, a song I really love (out of a film I feel the same way about :), and then I still had to come up with one song.. I thought of a couple, but knew they wouldn't work because I didn't know the lyrics till the end and you had to sing the song a capella..
Then I got an idea: I would sing You've Got the Love by Florence and the Machine. And just when I was thinking 'shit okay.. I will do it but first I have to sing or at least hear it one more time'... my alarm went. And my alarm is You've got the love.

It's something I had before, and more people had before, of course. Your alarm fits the end of your dream perfectly. Makes me wonder.. do you dream/think SO fast that the alarm has actually already begun and you're brain adjust so well it makes a whole story with it?
But the time in my dream between picking that song and wanting to hear it took a while longer than just seconds..
Or does or body and brain know when the alarm goes? (biological-clock thing)
Or can we see the future in our dreams..

I should've taken that sip of coffee first.. feel like a 9/11 conspiracy-person now.

Ohhh and tonight Popronde Rotterdam! Kind of anxious, since I haven't had the chance to practise up until yesterday.. and it's 40 minutes. It's always scary whenever I have to play more than 30 minutes.
But I'm also looking forward to it :-) and then Saturday I will finally see my boyfriend again. That always takes way too long.

It fell down

Ohh, yesterday was great! We had the premier of the piece and it went as well as a premier could go. Or, at least, I was satisfied ;-)

We were all a bit hyper after the performance. It was nice.

I'd planned to go back to Enschede this morning, because I have school, but I am so so tired and I have a bad cold, and yesterday my head was pounding. The pounding stopped but I am still a bit drowsy and the cold is still here.. I'm planning on having a lazy day with tea and a bit sleeping, for there's another performance tonight. And I want to go to school tomorrow, really, and tomorrow night there's another performance. And then Wednesday the last.
So.. I really have to get better, or at least not get worse. And I don't want to miss school, but the performances are the most important now.. and I have to travel 2,5 hours to get from school to Rotterdam, and in the weekend I was late because of the trains 2 times, and for almost 1 hour each day. It was already bad enough, but if this happens when we have a performance...
Well, you get it.

Now I'm going to de-stress ;-) and take a hot shower, and not wash my hair because it cannot be to soft (my hair is always very very soft and slippery after shampooing) because it has to hold stuff.

I'm sitting in the train now, to Rotterdam for rehearsals, it's been sooo busy and I haven't got internet at home yet.. (almost now though! and thank goodness there is television now).
School is nice, missing my boyfriend and friends isn't that nice, and being this awfully busy is only okay because I know it's not gonna last forever and because I am still doing the things I love.

Have to write a country song for my songwriting class.. listening to Taylor Swift (strangely enough) isn't really inspirational..
