Oke ik heb iedereen onderhand al doodgespammed op facebook met het feit dat Aline en ik een video gaan maken, maar hier moet het ook nog even.

Ik volgde Aline's blog een tijdje toen ze afgelopen zomer een oproep deed; je kon foto's door haar laten maken! Yolo, dacht ik, en stuurde gelijk een berichtje. De foto aan de zijkant van de blog is bijvoorbeeld door haar geschoten.
Een tijd later maakte ze een filmpje die ik zo mooi vond dat ik een berichtje stuurde met iets in de trant van: "OKE ZULLEN WE DAN NÚ EEN VIDEO GAAN MAKEN? OKE DOEI"


Deze was dat.

En het leek haar ook leuk! Dus, 3 jaar later, hebben we afgelopen donderdag dan de eerste opname dag gehad. Er komen sowieso nog een paar opname dagen aan, waar ik lichtelijk nerveus voor ben, maar waarom zullen jullie nog wel merken.

Donderdag filmden we in de Oude Hortus, waar ik zonder jas voor de camera verscheen (ik loop sindsdien te hoesten, helaas) (dat wordt nog wat), en Aline maakte alvast een teaser. Ik vond het zelf erg tof om te zien! Ben erg benieuwd hoe het uiteindelijk gaat worden.

Voor iedereen die 'm niet al via facebook gezien had, of hem nog eens wil kijken.

Haha ik moest steeds zo hard lachen toen ik deze video editte. Die jongens zijn zo grappig. Ohh het is zo druk en spannend; met minder leuke maar gelukkig ook wel hele leuke dingen!

De video maken bijvoorbeeld.. spannend en druk; maar wel heel leuk! In m'n hoofd ziet het er ook al heel cool uit. En de video's die tijdens het opnemen zijn opgenomen online zetten.. ook leuk!
Ik moet nog wel heel veel aanleveren (bij Stemra en de drukkerij) en dat zijn wel dingen die nog wel spannend worden; gaat het wel op tijd lukken? Ik wacht namelijk nog op wat gegevens die ik móet hebben voor ik Stemra toestemming kan gaan vragen voor 'productie in eigen beheer'.

En wat ook spannend is, gisteren waren Tom en ik de stad in, ik wilde al een tijdje bij de Lush langs om daar deo te halen. Toen ik zei "ah jullie hebben hier helaas nooit echt vacatures hè?" zei het meisje achter de kassa "nou, er is vanavond een groepsollicitatie."
Dus toen heb ik maar met Tom bij de Hema, die er tegenover is, een vegetarische slager burger met patatjes gegeten (ik kon het niet eens op zo zenuwachtig). En ben ik daarna maar weer naar de overkant gelopen. Alles wat ik gisteren aanhad, en mijn haar, ruikt nu naar de Lush. En ik hoor woensdag of donderdag of ik door ben naar de tweede ronde (zaterdag een paar uur meedraaien in de winkel; ieeek!)

Oh m'n buik draait zich om, het is zo spannend! Aangenomen worden of niet, en het werken sowieso. Brr. Nouja, het zal wel normaal zijn, die zenuwen.

Lana del Rey

Awesome. Lana del Rey is awesome. If you look a little past her duckface, she's really awesome.
I've been listening to her since april now, but it's only the last few days I've been listening non stop to her album Born to die. I really like her use of voice, when she's singing low she lowers her larynx (strottenhoofd) and when she's singing high she always stays soft, and she makes her larynx go higher. (Lowering your larynx makes your voice sounding somewhat lower and darker, lifting it makes it sound somewhat higher and really light, a bit like a child's voice even)
Which makes 1 song something almost like it's sang by 2 people. 

 When I saw this picture, I thought, AWESOME, plants on stage. Don't know if it was her idea, or if the plants were there already in the theatre, but anyway, cool idea.
I've been thinking a lot about stage stuff, and about performance and clothing lately. So stuff like this makes it interesting.

Her lyrics aren't always what you'd call.. deep and challenging for the brain, but as long as you're not expecting that out of it, it's awesome. It's a bit about the life of girls, a bit exaggerated sometimes. 

But sometimes I think there is some kind of message behind what she's saying. It makes me wonder if there is some kind of truth to her lyrics.

I can imagine it's not everyone's kind of music, or that she's not everyone's kind of person. But she inspires me, her music, the use of voice, her clothing, hair and make up. And the fact she's not the skinniest person alive. Nor is she the fattest of course, but at least she seems somehow like a normal person. Even if some of the things I wrote with the pictures are rather ironically written, I do think she's awesome.

Days like these make me want to start a Fiona Apple Cover band

And maybe throw some Damien Rice, Laura Marling and Florence and the Machine in between.

Tonight we'll be doing a living room (ha! I mistyped living, and wrote it as loving, how sweet) in Utrecht. Together with Mijke, Kris and Tineke and I.

Which reminds me, I should definitely share some of Kris' music here.

I did backings in one of the live videos they did. The last one, which will be online in a few weeks I guess. I'll definitely will post it here. It's my favorite Salisbury song.

BARELY made it out alive

I nearly fainted afterwards though. Haha. No idea how that happened.
Indeed, nothing impressive, I was out in less than 30 minutes. And it took me 4 years to get there. I should totally learn a lesson out of this. But it's more probable I won't.

I've been singing this song for a few weeks now. Though, I only sang the 2nd "I'm alive" he sings. It's such a goohoohood line to sing, sosoooulful baby.

And though I was sure my life would flash before me eyes, the only uncontrollable thing happening was my arm falling asleep because I was leaning on it with my poofy head. Which made getting up of the table slightly awkward and clumsy. But since I've always been awkward and clumsy, nothing much new there neither.

How many blogs did I spent on writing about my spot of bother? Is this the turd? (huhuuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuhuuh) the third I mean? .. Well even though I will probably complain in the following blogs about how nasty the pain is and all the blood and all the 22 (3) stitches. I promise I will not dedicate a whole blog to the complex relationship between me and my moles again.

I feel like a party in the backyard

So today we went to Amsterdam, it was really nice to see it was such a big succes for my sister! And to see all those nicely dressed people. But geez, that's also really tiring.. was kind of afraid of it before we got there, but indeed, I ended up feeling like a compleet loser, seeing all those perfect people. Bullshit of course. But now, I feel like partying in the backyard.

Oh, this morning I uploaded a new video/song by the way. And I started working on the song about my sister.

Like a bridge over troubled water

Ohhh she is such a beautiful woman. And that voice! And those songs! I just looove Fione Apple.

I was reading about her on wikipedia, since I'm writing a paper for Popmusic history about the 3 amazing women who actually are the reason why I started writing and playing piano (Amanda Palmer, Regina Spektor (!!!) and Fiona Apple). And I read she'd done a cover of Bridge over Troubled water with Johnny (fucking) Cash! How fucking awesome is that.. 2 of my most favorite songwriters, doing a really beautiful song. I like the original better, but still. So.. of course I haaaaad to write a blog about that. And, because, of course, otherwise it might be 2 weeks again before I post something new again :-)

Anyway, pfoo long time no post! I had my holiday.. it was nice! Did lots of practicing.. but actually only on 2 songs, and a bit on a 3th which I've kind of finished. The Sharks, Lady by the River, and ..... still titleless (the one about how you cannot find love on the pavement)

And I uploaded the video of The Sharks!

I like to play it :) I'm also doing it with bandlab at school, ánd I will play this with my 2nd and final exam for this year (along with probably, Lady by the River). So kiiiinda exciting.

I had Queensday! Which was awesome! Got to see my homies and party with them, and do some fleamarkets! Boughts some nice book, an ugly-fitting skirt, a nice dress and a terrible not-tuned xylophone which looks super cute because it has goldfish.

Then I went to Frieslaaaannd.. to my dad, and one of my sisters also came! Which was really gezellig, and we played and sang a lot. Then I went to my mums, chilled, played piano, went to see a sweet homie a day later, cycled back.. Got invited to a.. Liberation-day-festival? Saw 2 awesome concerts of Billy Benton and The Birddogs. Became kind of really anti-social because I ditched them then because I ran into the ex-boyfriend and his friends, and it was so nice because it was kind of just like before, except for that we weren't a couple of course.

Oh, and our neighbors' house was on fire.. which was a bit scary but luckily nobody got hurt!
Had a nice week and weekend.. then went back, ate with a classmate, watched Into the Wild (finally! Go watch it! It really is a good movie).... aaaaand then it was monday. And now it is tuesday. Back to life, back to reality.. sigh...

Here I was your Bird at Jonge Harten Festival (theatre).. oohh this was so harsh. Marco and I had just broken up. And just before the show I was crying and feeling fucked. And then I had to sing this song...

My sister had come to me on the day before, all the way from Groningen to Enschede, and she came back to me to Groningen (where the festival was). Ohh she's such a sweety.

I really thought nobody liked my show there. But now I'm looking at it and listening, and I am very critical listening to myself, but I actually think it went kind of well! Especially since I had had some stress beforehand, since my piano wasn't working haha.. but the people there were really nice and in the end, as you can hear and see, it worked. Yay.

Ooohhhhh (gesus, lots of 'oooohh's' today eh?) it's SUCH NICE WEATER!!! I get all happy when it's like this :D .. and I feel like saying 'Aaaaahh ohhh the weather is SO NICE! IT'S JUST SOOO NICE!" all day long.

Yesterday was awesome! Had a great time, the end was a bit awkward, which made it all even funnier. WEEKEND!
It's gonna be busy still.. first off to Friesland, to my dad, I wrote he works at a swimminghall, well this weekend they're gonna do some maintenance in the pool, so it has to be emptied! I told Rosa, and now we have an empty pool photoshoot date. I'm very curious how that will turn out.
Then I'll go with her to Amsterdam, and sunday, I guess, I'll be going back again, and then I have to make a presentation for school (about Woodstock, so it's o.k.).

I'm looking forward to this weekend :) oh! and watching How I Met Your Mother in between.... it's gonna be legen... wait for it

I feel like the rabbit now. You know something real big is gonna happen, and you're just waiting.

AAAAHHH I'm so nervous! Today I have my singer/songwriting exam. Brrrrr
It consist out of playing 2 of the songs you made this semester, and then a theory exam (sight reading, improvising etc) and we have to hand them our portfolio (with the sheets also, we had to write out, I finished them all yay! And including a cd with recordings of the 4 songs we made)

I am shitting the crap out of myself right now (*beavis/butthead laughing to myself* lame). I totally also feel like omnom/wtfkitty. (click, you won't be disappointed)

Wellllllll anyway, I hope my nerves will be gone by the time I start playing.. wouldn't want to fuck my songs up then, right? :) And the theory.. umigumigod (if you say it out loud you will understand why I keep typing it) will be so scary and hard probably too..

I'm sooo gonna get back to you on this :) when I have the result I will definitely post it here, except for maybe when it's so bad I have to get kicked out of school. In that case, I will lie to you all about that fact and just pretend I am still studying ArtEZ (name of my school) forever until I supposedly graduate and then move on with my live (don't worry, this grammatically incorrect sentence will now be over)

Woohhh busy weekend, not only did I travel to Friesland back and forth (friday to Friesland, sunday morning back) I also spent my whole saturday playing piano/making music, and my whole friday in the car and recording songs for school. But it was a nice busy!

And now I'm sitting on ma butt and doing this and am.. I have a exam this afternoon.. and then I have to write write write leadsheets (we have to write down even the vocal melody, which is the most annoying work ever) (except maybe for painting those miniature puppets for prototypes or building models)

I am not through with you.

My weekend was nice, I was with my homie, had a performance, lost my voice because of it (and flu), went partying and dancing, had a birthday, went to my mom, went to my dad, didn't travel back alone. And I even made schoolwork. I couldn't have not done it.. we have project week this week, and we started with ahm.. you had to make lead-sheets (the singers en songwriters etc) of 2 songs (which I find already terribly scary and hard) then, this morning, we were put in a band of which we didn't know what band it was going to be (yearmates though) and we had 20 minutes to rehearse 2 songs.

Now some people are gonna choose 1 or the other song, and we're going to have to play it at 5 o'clock.. and they'll judge you. Ohmigawdhackingshat.
